We began the exciting pursuit of hunting elk here in Idaho in the mid 1980's. Our focus then shifted to bow hunting in 1991 after realizing how exciting bugling bulls in the rut can be. We realized that with the variety of bugles a bull makes and the many different sounds a cow makes, that the elk were actually saying different things. Appreciating that fact we then started learning and practicing persistently over a period of years until we felt that we had duplicated the elk bugles and cow calls. Having mastered the proper responses for each type of bugle or cow call that you may hear during your hunt.
We have now been successfully hunting elk with these techniques for more than twenty years. We hunt on public land without guides or special permits. These methods can be used anywhere and by anyone with the same success we've found. Whether you hunt archery or rifle season. You just have to know what the elk are saying and how to respond! For instance did you realize that there are six basic bugles and six basic cow calls? That is why we have put together the videos offered on this site. We will demonstrate and explain what the elk are saying and what the proper response would be. Our unique approach to bugling bulls and cow calling will teach you what we have learned through years of trial and error so that you can go straight to the thrill of a successful hunt, even if you are a first time elk hunter!

This picture from March 2010 marks our 34th wedding anniversary. We've raised four children and are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren. Our oldest grandson, Tanner Paul Borgeson, is pictured here with us.
Come September 2010 Paul and Paul II will have enjoyed deer, turkey, and elk hunting in Idaho, together, for 20 years. Next to their families, elk hunting has become their lives. Hence, the term ElkNut!
Since Paul II has been able to walk he has followed his father around in the woods, and by the age of 12 the two started hunting elk seriously with bow and arrow. Nearly 20 years later they're still going strong.
This passion for and dedication to elk hunting has led to the development of this site and the various DVD's, Audio CD's and ElkNut's Playbook they offer here. We hope you enjoy our site and the the vast amount of information contained within the products we offer..

While we were stuck in Idaho in March our other grandson, Trey Paul Medel, was enjoying some fun in the sun with his dad, Paul II. And yes, the "Trey Paul" does translate to
